Naval Coms Facility - Onavlaia
Onavlaia, was effectively the off-world military centre of Crorireson during the Trade wars, and was the main logistic spring board for the Crorireson contribution to the siege of Alrosa. The world remains effectively a Crorireson colony, and is the home of the Crorireson Navy. Significant facilities are maintained in orbit, and on the surface, which is littered with abandoned military training, storage, and testing grounds, and a small civilian population scavenging and salvaging good for resale to the authorities.

Whilst there are several major settlements, the principal of these is Fort Achilles, a city of some million inhabitants, and the seat of planetary authority, exercised by the Admiral-Comandant. This sets the tone for the military flavour of all official posts and titles, even when they are primarily civilian in nature - and indeed the world echoes Crorireson's almost fetishisation of aristocracy. Posts, either military or pseudo military, are favoured by the aristocratic families of the homeworld, and indeed whole minor branches of such families have transferred permanently to Onavlaia carving out higher status positions for themselves 'at the frontier' than they would have been able to do back home.

Despite the 'military gloss' that the society effects, the growth in trade since the establishment of the Fairport Convention means that the merchant services have risen in significance for Crorireson, and consequently for Onavlaia, where many ships are serviced and crews trained. This has led to some 'inter-service rivalry', with the frequent jibe that those serving aboard merchant ships are failed naval personnel. However, Onavlaia's proximity to the worlds of the New Star Commonwealth, a little to coreward, makes this world a potentially lucrative trade link, a fact which the aristocrats of Crorireson are not ignoring. They attempted to gain the Fairport Convention Development Board contract to built a major link-station to open up trade with the Commonwealth - a contract that ultimately went to Zytsofamaa, and underpins their construction of a station on Zanususre. The aristocratic leadership of Crorireson being what it is, they are unlikely to accept this setback as permanent.

NOTES FOR TRAVELLERS:
The planetary law level expresses the tight control exercised within the main settlements, and restrictions on weaponry with the main settlements are strict, and military levels of discipline are maintained in any city zones not designated 'Recreational'. Beyond the main settlements, things are much laxer, and approach lawlessness. Check in your weaponry with a local 'Arms Steward', who will be able to make them available to you again (for a fee) at the city limits, should you be insane enough to fancy a trip into the outback.

Additionally, never utter the phrase 'those that can, join the navy. Those that can't, trade' in a crowded bar as this is liable to cause significant friction, and the intervention of the Military Police or civilian Night Watch.
