Background

Brubeck joined the chanters to get opportunities to travel, and spent his apprenticeship, having trained in microbes (medical) traveling on his own in a small boat from pod to pod curing minor infections. He scraped through, and trained in transformation and stabalisation, but his real passion, as his outling tendencies grew, was music.

Either because he was relatively good at transformation, or to get rid of his disruptive musical influence, he was allocated to a team doing off world work.
