Characteristics:

STR: 7    DEX: 6    END: 9    INT: 5    EDU: 5    SOC: 2

Training: basic training emphasises endurance over anything else. Troopers also pick up a personal skill that helps easy life in the barracks - gambling, carousing, etc. Some go on to be specialists (anything from commandos to the transport corps), whilst others make the rank of NCO. 

Trooper Type: roll 1d6 against the following encounter table, or use the types to 'build a squad'. The types are reflected in the skill selects presented in the skills section.

Note: commissioned officers are not encountered randomly.

Three careers: all three types receive all of the skills under 'basic training' and one skill choice from 'personal' - the personal skill can be randomly generated on a 1d6. For specialists choose one specialist option - the NPC gets all the skills under that option. There are six options, so this can be randomly rolled on 1d6. An NCO gets all of the skills under the NCO selection.

  1. Commando: + 1 to all physical stats. Choose 3 skill levels spread across the following by choice: Stealth, Melee, Gun Combat (choose one), Explosives, Survival, Vacc suit, Recon, Medic, leadership, tactics.
  2. Heavy Weapons: Heavy weapon (choose 1) 1. Mechanic 0.
  3. Transport: - 1 to all physical stats. Drive (choose 1) 1, Mechanic 0, Navigate 0. Loose athletic (endurance) from basic training.
  4. Military Police: Investigate 1, Persuade 1. 
  5. Engineer: Choose 1 at skill level 2 and 1 at skill level zero Mechanics, Electronics, plus drive at 0.
  6. Medical: Med 2, Admin 1.

If the NCO is of a specialist unit choose ONE skill at level 1 from the specialist careers above. If an NCO of a regular unit increase one skill by ONE level from the NCO skills package.

NCO gain a dagger as a 'mark of rank'. Specialists will be equipped with great appropriate to their task.
