The Udcapin system is based around a dim red dwarf - Udcapin Prime. The world commonly known as 'Udcapin' is small, orbiting closely around this red dwarf, bathing this low(ish) gravity world in a ruddy light.

The world itself is predominantly a water world, with huge expanses of small islands, lagoons, and swamps. The close orbit around Udcapin Prime means that temperatures on the surface are temperate to high, but the high water coverage means that the atmosphere is humid.

Udcapin is most famous for the indigenous intelligent race, the Haradath. Covered in detail elsewhere, the Haradath are a minor starfaring race, descended from six-limbed amphibious hunters. They communicate with a particular clicking and whistling, un-masterable y other species, supplement poor eyesight with echo-location, and have significant psionic abilities. These abilities allow the Haradath to control insects and small mammals, birds, and fish have led to a distinct bio-mechanical and bio-technical technology.

The Masters, the effective government of Udcapin, have co-operated with the Fairport convention in establishing an amber zone around this world, protecting the population from excessive external pressure and the potential culture shock.
